Slovenia

Green is the colour of the Slovenian DNA – in many ways. Often referred to as the land of forests, Slovenia has almost 60% of its territory wooded, making it the third-most-forested country in Europe, and one of the greenest in the world. Not only because of the number of forests but also because of the diverse forest areas, we consider it as the perfect destination for forest photography.

Bled

Our first destination during the trip to Lithuania is Bled, Lake Bled is undoubtedly the most recognisable tourist attraction in Slovenia. In the middle of it, you will find one of the very few islands in Slovenia. Bled Island is home to an important pilgrimage church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The church is a popular destination for couples looking to marry. Traditionally, it is considered good luck for the groom to carry his bride up 99 steps leading up to the church, before ringing the bell and making a wish inside. Also, a must-try, if you are in Bled, is the Kremšnita (Bled Cream Cake), which is known as the symbol of Bled cuisine. It is offered in many patisseries across Slovenia, but there is only one original Bled cream cake (you can try it in Hotel Park on our Spa adventure on the trip).

Ljubljana

The second destination on our Slovenian trip is the capital city, Ljubljana. Ljubljana is also known as the dragon city as you can see them all around the city, even on the Dragon Bridge. An interesting fact is that the river that flows through the capital called Ljubljanica actually has 7 names. Not only can you visit the many historical sites, but you can also taste the traditional cuisine in one of the many restaurants located throughout the whole city.

Podčetrtek

Our final destination on the trip is Podčetrtek, which is known as one of the most tranquil cities among locals. Podčetrtek lies at the very heart of the region by the Sotla River. The Terme Olimia spa and the village of Olimje with its monastery and one of Europe’s oldest apothecaries beckon visitors to stop by. Orchards sprawling across the meadows and Podsreda Castle are part of the Kozjansko Regional Park. Kozjansko apples, juice, monastery tea and other local products often find their way to the tables of local restaurants (some of which will also be featured on our trip).
